Double Turkey Gorget

Jewelry by Sandy Fife Wilson

$350 Sold

Size: 2⅛" X 3⅝" shell, 17" necklace

Category: Jewelry

Tribal Affiliation: Muscogee (Creek)

Artwork Description:

The motif on this gorget is the mirror image of the turkey. This stylized design was influenced by the many turkey motifs used by the Mvskokean people during the Mississippean era. A shell bead necklace was added to accent the melon shell. The shell was cut ground, polished, and carved by the artist. Areas have been incised and the lines were carved deeper to create darker lines.
